Trapped in Dark Closet Heat
Lincoln’s back pressed flat against the utility closet wall, the narrow space barely wide enough for both of them once the door slammed shut. The power outage had killed the lights in the cramped beach house, and now the dark pressed in from every side, thick with the smell of old paint and the mineral tang of chlorine still clinging to both of them from the pool that afternoon. Eva stood wedged against him, her tank top damp where it touched his chest, and he felt her breath come in short bursts that stirred the hair on his neck. Every inch of her registered against him—hips angled sideways, one thigh brushing his, the quick flutter of her pulse where her shoulder met his sternum.
They had circled each other for three days in the shared rental, silent nods in the kitchen, the smell of laundry detergent on the towels she left folded over the porch rail. Now the outage had trapped them here, bodies forced into contact by the shelves on either side. Lincoln kept his hands at his sides, fingers curled against the wood, but he noticed how every small shift sent friction rolling through him. Her knee bumped his leg when she tried to adjust, and he felt the contact hold longer than it should have.
Minutes dragged. The air grew heavier, humid with the effort of standing so still. Lincoln felt the heat radiating off her skin, the way her tank top clung lower with each exhale. Her chest rose and fell against him, quicker now, and he wondered if she could feel how his own pulse had thickened under his ribs. Her eyes, barely visible in the sliver of light under the door, tracked the line of his mouth once, then again. He shifted his weight to ease the pressure on his lower back and her hip rolled with him, a slow drag that tightened something low in his gut. No words passed between them. Just the whisper of fabric, the heat building between their bodies, the tension coiling tighter in his thighs with every small adjustment.
His thoughts looped on the days before—her silhouette on the deck at dusk, the way she had paused in the doorway yesterday as if deciding whether to speak. Now the decision had been taken from both of them. Lincoln’s jeans felt too tight at the front, the denim rubbing with every tiny movement. Eva’s hand came up once, fingers brushing his forearm as she steadied herself, and he felt the touch linger, warm and certain. Beneath the old paint smell he caught the first real sweat building between them, sharp and honest. Her pulse beat steady against his ribs, faster than before, and somewhere close to his ear she let out a low, unsteady breath that wasn’t quite a word but wasn’t nothing either.
The door latch gave with a metallic scrape, and light cracked through, sudden and gray-white after the total dark. Lincoln felt her hands move first—not toward his shirt, not yet, but down, fingers finding his belt and working the buckle loose in one impatient tug, leaving it hanging open against his hips even before they’d fully cleared the frame. He got his palm flat against her lower back and pushed, half-carrying her forward, and the momentum broke whatever stillness had held them in the closet. Her tank top was still whole, untouched, damp cotton clinging to her skin as they crossed the threshold together, faster now, breath coming quick and short between them.
The instant they cleared the doorway, Lincoln’s fingers hooked into her collar and yanked, the cotton splitting down the center with a dry rip that bared her skin to the humid living room air. She didn’t stop him, just shoved his shirt up and off in one clumsy pull that caught on his shoulders and left it somewhere behind them. He steered her onward with a hand at her hip, angling her past the coffee table toward the armrest, no thought in his head beyond getting her there. Shoes scraped the baseboard as they staggered the last few feet, breath loud and ragged from the hours pressed together in the dark. Sweat from the closet still clung to both of them, sharp and salty, mixing with the faint coconut of whatever sunscreen she’d used earlier in the day.
She went over the armrest without hesitation, spine arching back until her shoulder blades pressed into the cushion and her head tipped toward the ceiling. The position left her hips canted up, legs spread wide around his waist. Lincoln shoved his jeans down to his ankles, the loose belt buckle striking the floor with a dull clink as the denim pooled at his feet. He gripped her thighs, thumbs digging into the muscle, and pushed inside her in one rough slide that made her breath catch. No pause, no adjustment. Just the tight drag of her around him and the way her heels dug into the small of his back to pull him deeper.
“Fuck, that’s it,” he muttered, voice hoarse from the closet. His hips snapped forward, the sofa creaking under the weight. Every thrust shoved her a little higher on the armrest, the fabric of the cushion scraping against her spine. He could smell her sweat stronger now, the real kind from being trapped, and it made his rhythm jerkier, less controlled. His hands slid up to her ribs, holding her in place as he drove harder, the slap of skin loud in the quiet house. Eva’s fingers clutched at his forearms, nails biting in, but she stayed arched open, chest rising fast with each breath.
Lincoln’s thighs burned from the angle, muscles locked to keep the leverage. He leaned over her, one hand braced on the back of the sofa, the other gripping her hip hard enough to leave marks. “Goddamn, you’re soaked,” he said against her neck, the words coming out between heavy exhales. The closet had left them both overheated, skin slick where they met. He kept moving, short and urgent thrusts that made her body jolt under him, her breasts shifting with every impact. No rhythm to it, just the need to keep going before the power came back or the moment cracked.
Her pulse hammered against his palm where he held her side. Lincoln felt his own stamina fraying, the frantic pace from the tearing clothes catching up to him. He tried to slow it, to draw it out, but the position kept him deep and the friction stayed constant, wet and tight. Eva’s mouth opened on a soundless exhale, eyes half-lidded as she stared at the ceiling fan above them. He watched her face, trying to read if she wanted him to ease off, but her legs tightened around him, urging him on.
The tension in his gut pulled tighter with every thrust until it didn’t snap. Instead it bled out slow, his hips stuttering forward in uneven jerks. Lincoln’s breath left him in one long, broken exhale that dragged on, shoulders shaking as the last of it pulsed through him. His forehead dropped to her collarbone, body locked tight against hers while the tremors ran their course. No sharp peak, just the gradual drain that left his legs unsteady and his grip on her hip loosening by degrees.
He stayed there a moment longer, breathing against her skin, then pulled back. His body slipped free, and he straightened, bending to drag his jeans up from around his ankles with one hand, the belt buckle swinging loose against his thigh as he tugged the denim into place. Eva didn’t move right away, still arched over the armrest, chest rising slower now, the torn tank top slipping further off one shoulder. Lincoln crossed the room, found his shirt crumpled on the floor near the coffee table, and pulled it on. The room felt cooler without the contact. He stood there a moment, watching her chest heave, then left her there without another word.
